Wargaming, het bedrijf achter de games World of Tanks, World of Warplanes en World of Warships slaat de handen ineen met Oekraïense studio Frag Lab, zij zullen op basis van de Amazon Lumberyard engine, Amazons in-house engine, een first-person shooter gaan ontwikkelen. De meest recente game die uitkwam die gemaakt is in deze engine is de game gebaseerd op de gelijknamige Amazon Original The Grand Tour.

14 maart 2019 — Zojuist, heeft Wargaming aangekondigd dat zij gaan samenwerken met de Oekraïense ontwikkelstudio Frag Lab. Zij zullen een nieuwe generatie shooter gaan maken met gebruik van bijna twaalf Amazon Web Services (AWS) producten, Amazon GameLift dedicated server hosting en de Amazon Lumberyard AAA game engine.

Het Oekraïense Frag Lab studio is gesitueerd in Kiev en heeft maar liefst 125 medewerkers die voorheen o.a. hebben gewerkt aan de Crysis franchise, Battlefield 2 en Warface.

“When Frag Lab approached us with their vision of what they wanted to develop, we felt that it perfectly matched our core values, and their passion was palpable,” aldus Shahzad Khan, Product Director, Wargaming. “We knew by combining their experience working on a successful shooter with our unrivaled free-to-play expertise, together we could bring this vision to life.”

Extra informatie voor de kenners, Amazon Game Tech heeft alles wat ontwikkelaars nodig hebben voor het ontwikkelen en het samenbrengen van toepassingen rondom Amazon. Wargaming en Frag Lab gebruiken de Amazon GameLift om de multiplayer servers te opereren SCALE naast een dozijn aan AWS producten zoals Amazon Route 53, Simple Storage Service (S3), en Elastic Container Service voor Kubernetes (EKS) en de game zelf wordt met de Amazon Lumberyard game engine gemaakt.
